Lemme lemme upgraaade...

Another thing I love about fall: the excuse it gives me to use an abnormally large mug.
Yesss, my chai (perhaps with a splash of brandy?) tastes so much better now. :)

And to round this post out properly, here's Kyle on 'fall':
"I love fall because it's like the sun comes to earth for a month."

ain't he a gem?

Whaaaaat?

What does a 25-year-old female get for her birthday?  Maybe some jewelry, a gift card to Banana Republic, perhaps a sewing machine if she's lucky...
Nope.
Not this girl.
She gets a .22 rifle (bolt action with scope, nonetheless), a Claymaker t-shirt, AND two - count it, two - Xbox games...
Which begs the question: am I a twelve-year-old boy?
Let's just say I have the luckiest husband in the world.  Have to admit, I did ask for all these items, and I'm super excited about them, but to clear my name, I also asked for normal stuff (i.e. a mustard cardigan, boots, and a sewing machine)!!
I think maaaaybe Kyle was a tiny bit biased, and thought that picking out a rifle would be more fun than choosing a sewing machine...who can blame him?

And, even better than all my swag, I had the chance to hang out with some of my bfs on my birthday!  Kyle planned surprise after surprise for me, from going to Cabela's to choose my rifle (that store gave me major culture shock, by the way!), to doing a corn maze and picking pumpkins, to carving said pumpkins, and hitting the town for some eats (Rumpus Room in Milwaukee - very nice), and finally ending the night with a proper slumber party - best birthday ever.
...or at least since my 10th birthday, when I got my first pocket knife...

feeling it

You Can't Handle The Truth

We had our last playoff game before the final tonight...and man, was it legendary.
I use that word sparingly, believe me, but tonight it was well deserved.  Truthfully, I'm exhausted and I just want to go take a shower and soak my right big toe, so I won't get too gritty with the deets.  Let's just say we lost two quick points, then brought it back to 7-3 at half, only to play the most intense and nerve-wracking game of my life by letting them tie up at 14-14 - more commonly known as UNIVERSE POINT - where the first to 15 wins all...
...There were injuries all over the place, fouls called left & right, let alone the crazy wind and intermittent rain, all during the epic 2.5 hour ordeal...
And we pulled it in for a victory.
YES.
I am so proud of these people. :)
TRUTH!!

.i love my job.

Editing their photos.  Listening to this.  Cryin' like a baby.
Confessions of a hopeless romantic.
P.s. I love them. I really really do.
and p.p.s. She has an amazing blog too - kinda a huge inspiration for me. :)

Nacho Friday

Go big or go home, right?  When Kyle first saw this mountain, I believe his first words were, "Holy crap, I love you."  He then proceeded to pile even more cheese on top.
Paired with some Night Train from O'so brewery...sitting heavy...

And...I've been on a Martin Solveig kick all day.  Not familiar?  Well, check it out!:
I recommend watching full screen in HD - you just gotta

I. love. fall.

Let's be real.  It's the best season.
Yesterday I got to drive through the beautiful WI countryside from Madison to Milwaukee, on my way to see these wonderful people, and can I just say, it was glorious.  I rolled the windows down, pumped my music, and made a complete singing fool of myself.  Have to admit there isn't a musical bone in my body, but every inch of my amusically-gifted body loves the stuff.  Can't get enough, really.

On that note, let me share the jams I've been rocking my October to:

Enjoy!
And rest assured, there is much more to come on why fall is the best.

I love him

Guess what we did today!
Oh, you figured it out?  That's right, we did a shoot with a wonderful family and their special guest, Bucky Badger!

There's something so magical about Bucky.  First off, it's utterly impossible to be in a sour mood when he's around.  And secondly, he makes you feel like a 4-year-old who believes in unicorns again.  Even though you know deep down it's some random guy in a costume, somehow Bucky is real, a timeless character who frickin' steals your heart.
If you're not a Badger you might not know the feeling, but that's ok, just imagine that unicorns are really real, and listen to THIS, and you'll get a hint of what I'm getting at. ;)

On Wisconsin!

lunch break

 Is this really October?

Gotta admit I'll take 80 & sunny over 45 & sleeting any day, so that's why I have to give it up to fall 2011.  You've been wonderful.  Keep it up.  please...cuz I'm just not ready for winter...

Also, been enjoying how our cat Ulysses keeps bringing leaf trophies inside for us.  He's ever-so-brave. :)

And lastly, a little jewel from my ever-evolving playlist - perhaps a SO to my wonderful hubby?  Why yes, yes it is.

.Hello there.

Welcome to my new endeavor - nutshells & nuggets: a blog about balance.
Balance is a tricky thing.  But it’s oh-so important.

That’s what I’m finding.

And that’s why this thing is happening.

right.
             now.

**This is my creative balance.  I spend my days sitting at a computer being creative in only one facet
and
somehow
I’m hoping that sitting at the computer blogging about other creative things will help me feel more balanced.**

..I PROMISE..
First & foremost to try my very hardest to make this interesting
Secondly to be short & sweet
And neither last nor least to be real

POW.and thanks for reading!
